The chairman of the charity, Mr Kevin Smith, was among those who attended.
Thomas, a pupil at John Hunt Primary School, Balderton, made his own posters, contacted people to donate items such as tombola prizes – and counted the money at the end of the day.
His ideas came from attending similar charity events with his family.
His parents, Mr & Mrs Richard Linford, hoped other children could copy his example.
Mrs Angela Linford, said: “He really stuck at organising it. It just shows what a five year old can do given the opportunity.”
