Churches

ROAD supports local churches, whether large or small.
When ROAD first went to Romania one of our first partners were Ioan & Otilia Ciupe. Ioan is a Baptist Pastor who has a real heart and vision for the people in the villages and as such has a number of smaller churches that he leads and supports. He does not gain any salary from this and for many
years has relied on selling some of his paintings to support his work.
Ioan, Otilia and their family have been friends to ROAD since this time. We try to accompany Ioan to a Sunday morning meeting when we have our Christmas trip and recognise the important work they are doing. ROAD were pleased that a number of years ago they were able to support Ioan and Otilia by purchasing a car for him to use to get to all of the outlying villages as his old Dacia was not working. Over the years we have been able to support both the Ciupe’s and other local churches in many ways. Ioan & Otilia have continued to host member of the ROAD team every year since 1994.
ROAD have supported many Churches over the years, building Sunday Schools (which were then used as part of a clinic program), we have taken chairs, bibles and musical equipment. We have helped distribute food parcels, clothing, and toiletries through the Churches. Another venture was to complete a building programme at Santa Maria Baptist church. In that case funds were provided by the Ground Level Network of churches from their ‘Grapevine Missions Offering.’
More recently we have begun to build a relationship with Harul (Grace) Church, which is an Evangelical free church in the centre of Zalau. They are a fast growing church and we have been able to support them with the supply of practical items for the Church building (chairs / kitchen equipment / bedding etc) and also items for the new summer camp they are setting up in the mountains. We hope to continue supporting the Church in Romania.
